Anze Kopitar and Jonathan Toews Face-To-Face

The Los Angeles Kings announced that they have reached a contract agreement with Anze Kopitar, an eight year contract which comes with a cap hit of 10 million dollars per season.

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the year by year breakdown of Kopitar’s deal goes as such: $14 million, $13 million, $12 million, $11 million, $8 million, $8 million,$7 million,$7 million. There is a No movement clause immediately and for the first four years, while the last four years of Kopitar’s extension are protected by a limited no trade clause.

Pierre LeBrun added that the Kopitar extension includes a $9 million bonus payment next July 1st and another $9 million bonus in the summer of 2017.

So to those who pointed out Toews when I wanted to put down Kopitar’s contract, you are right. If there is no outrage about Toews’ money, then there should definitely be none regarding Kopitar.
